Hawkesbury apartment fire investigated as arson
OPP have opened an arson investigation after a fire broke out at a residential apartment building in Hawkesbury.
Late in the night on Nov. 29, Hawkesbury OPP, Hawkesbury Fire Department, and United Counties of Prescott and Russell Paramedic Services responded to reports of a structure fire on Portelance Avenue in Hawkesbury, a town approximately 100 km east of Ottawa.
Upon arrival, residents were evacuated from the building and transported to a warning centre. Assistance was provided by Red Cross and Victim Services Prescott-Russell.
Three individuals were transported to hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.
The fire has since been put out but investigators are regarding it as suspicious. An arson investigation has been opened.
Police are asking anyone who may have information or footage to contact 1-888-310-1122, or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers.
