Man charged with drug trafficking after Highway 417 collision

A Mississauga man is facing drug trafficking charges after a collision Monday afternoon on Highway 417 in Ottawa.

Just after 4 p.m., OPP officers were called to the scene of the collision on the 417 westbound near Maitland Avenue.

One of the drivers involved in the crash was arrested for careless driving, and a subsequent search of his vehicle resulted in police finding a large quantity of drugs, the OPP said in a news release Tuesday.

Jayden Dunkley, 21, has been charged with: Possession over 30 grams dried cannabis in a public place; possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, cocaine; possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, opioid (other then heroin); possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order; and careless driving.

Dunkley was to appear in an Ottawa courtroom at a later date.
