Ottawa fire crews make quick work of fire in Argyle Avenue highrise
Ottawa firefighters quickly put out a fire in an Argyle Avenue highrise on Sunday afternoon.
A call from a monitoring agency came in at 2:45 p.m., with initial reports stating there was a stove-top fire and possibly an air conditioner on fire at a multi-use residential highrise in the 200 block of Argyle, Ottawa Fire Services said in a news release.
After arriving at the scene, crews confirmed that smoke was visible on the second floor, and additional resources were called to the location.
The fire was declared under control by 3:13.
Two full searches of the building were conducted but no occupants were found inside, Ottawa fire stated.
An investigator was sent to the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
